I just came across the following - and creating a new default query seems to fit the need, at least in my case. I don't exclude certain statuses because I don't yet know all the impacts (where the default query is used) - but I did all the Status, Name, and Type as "user prompted" criteria and my Add CI is 1000% more usable on the surface. More impact testing needed - but this really nailed my requirements:
